"Goals allow you to control the direction of change in your favor."

If you do not know where you are going, how are you going to get there?  You need a destination in your mind of where your life is going.  A written goal is even better.  Brian Tracy said, "Goals allow you to control the direction of change in your favor."  If you plot the direction you want to go, you can change course along the way to insure you arrive at your destination.

Mr. Tracy has a very good point.  If you have a goal, you will be in a better position to steer in the right direction when challenges get in your way.  With a goal you might just barge through the problem when you could have easily sidestepped it. 

When driving through town you do not usually take the road where all the construction is going on.  You steer around it by taking side routes.  More importantly, you arrive at your destination sooner because you are not held up in constructor traffic.

Life is the same way.  If you have a map of where you are going, you will recognize the construction zones and steer around them.  You will "control the direction of change in your favor".
