“If you get lemons,
make lemonade” It has various authors
listed online, but the one I chose to accept is Dale Carnegie. It was a
popular
quote by Mr. Carnegie and his version is "If life gives you lemons,
make
lemonade". The red text way is how I always have said it.
I really like this quote about
life because in my life I
have a lemon tree growing. I’ve been harvesting lemons for years. However, the harvest has been good. Without really thinking about this quote every
time, my wife and I have used all of the bad situations in life to our
advantage. It seemed that every time the stool got kicked out from
under us,
things got better. Our life improved
with every adversity we received.
You can take any “lemon” and turn
it into lemonade. You just have to look
long enough and hard
enough at the situation to find how it can be turned to your advantage.
Lose a job, find a new career.
Lose a love, find a new lover.
Lose anything and find something to replace it.
The thing is, we often dwell on the “sour
lemon” so much
that we cannot see the forest for the trees.
We are so absorbed in our problem that we do not look for
a solution. We
talk to our friends about the problem. We cry to relatives about how
unfair it
is. We look for sympathy anywhere we can
find it.
Do not get so absorbed in your
problems that you do not see
the challenge they could present. Each lemon could really be
opportunity knocking
if you would only step back and evaluate what has happened.
Next time you are dealt an unfair
hand by life, take a look
at it carefully. What can you find in
the situation that you can make better with a slight attitude
adjustment? Find it and make just that one
small
change. Then look for another thing and
another. YES! You are making lemonade.
So, “When life gives you lemons,
make lemonade”.
